About the Artist

Dolores Gonzalez Haro was born October 7, 1963 in Los Angeles California. She has always enjoyed painting
and creating. Her paintings are a self-expression of her life and those who have influenced her the most.
The women in her family have played a strong role in her life, she pulls from their strength. Her love for her
Mexican culture leads her back to the rich vivid colors of the earth. Her images of woman are both powerful
and mystical. "This new series of painting depicts illusions of wishful thinking. They represent the ideas of
peacefulness. "Flight of Dreams is a favorite of mine because it demonstrates to me the necessity of
imagination. To gain a sense of connection with a Higher Power is never ending. The colors of blues and
purples are my expressions of deep emotions and heavy thoughts."

Dolores lives and works in El Monte, CA., she has been attending various Art classes in and around her
community for the past 10 years. Self-Help Graphics located in East Los Angeles has helped her get started in
exhibiting her work. Her home is her studio; here she can express herself through her work. Dolores also
teaches workshops for children. Lessons are in charcoal, watercolor and acrylic on canvas. She loves
teaching, especially when it comes to art. She has also been the instructor for the After-School Art Program
and After-School Chess Club in Mountain View School District at La Primaria Elementary School and also for
Stone Soup an after school day care program.
